If you are a homesteader, farmer, or backyard breeder looking for a FANTASTIC dual-purpose bird, look no further than the red (combed), white (feathered), and blue (footed) American Bresse - rhymes with bless - chicken. They are highly prized table birds in France, where the breed originated, and are known as the world's best tasting chicken. (We can attest!) Our breeding stock comes from Devil's Gulch Ranch in Marin County and Greenfire Farm in FL.

They are a great heritage alternative to the Cornish Cross. After testing these birds out last season, we are ALL IN! Our last two hatches had 100% fertility and 93% hatch rate. Chicks currently available. 

Hatching eggs

We have 7 week old Male celadon Coturnix quail from the Alchemist line available this week only. Curious, healthy and good temperaments. Raised outside in natural conditions - no wire mesh flooring. If paired with females with the celedon gene, they will produce beautiful blue eggs (see pic). These beautiful gentlemen are crowing and ready to go!

Live poultry

We have 5-month-old Delawares for sale (live). They are a heritage, dual purpose breed that is good for both meat and eggs. Ideal for homestead flocks. We purchased the eggs from an NPIP certified local breeder and hatched them here on the farm. They have been raised out on non-GMO corn-free and soy-free feed, augmented with fresh fruits and vegetables.

The roosters do well in a free-range environment and are very protective of their flock. Because of this, we don't recommend that they be near children. If you are buying them for meat, they have more dark meat that white meat (breast meat is naturally thinner on heritage birds), and the meat is very flavorful.

We have a limited number of breeding pairs. Hens lay about 200 large to extra-large light brown eggs per year.

Did you know that quail eggs are just 19 calories and are packed full of protein! They are perfect for pizzas, street tacos, boiled on salads, pickled, or fried. Kids love eating quail eggs. 

These rare celadon blue egg layers will start laying just 8 weeks from hatch and will lay 250+ eggs per year. They are quiet and don't require as much space as chickens do.

Hatch@Home is a 4-week program where you get everything you need (fertile eggs, incubator, candler, brooder, feeder, waterer, feed, shavings, etc.) to hatch out chicks at home or in your classroom. When you are done, you can keep the chicks or send them back to GullyRumpus Farm near Sacramento.
